What’s the “best” alcohol to drink?

I always get a question about what the "best" type of alcohol is if you are watching your weight. Well, all alcohol adds extra calories to your day. If you are looking for the least caloric options, a 4 - 5 oz glass of wine or a light beer have the least calories. Watch out for mixed drinks. Some of those drinks have more calories than you want to know. And, those calories add up quickly….

Healthy Snacks for Work

Do you find yourself always looking for something to eat around 3 or 4? Do you end up eating chips from the vending machine, chocolate that someone had on their desk or those cookies leftover from your afternoon meeting? It’s normal to be hungry around this time, but rather than eating something that isn’t healthy and that doesn’t fill you up, try keeping some healthy snacks at your desk so you don’t end up at the vending machine. Here are some great snack ideas for your desk:

  • Kashi granola bars
  • Dried apricots and cashews
  • Dole mandarin orange fruit bowl
  • Skippy Squeez’ It  peanut butter stick on a banana
  • Alpen cereal bar
  • Mini box Raisin Bran cereal

3500 calories = 1 pound. That means, if you cut 3500 calories, you lose a pound. You can lose a half a pound each week by simply cutting out one caloric beverage every day. This could be your morning oj, the iced tea with lunch, that gourmet coffee drink you have mid-afternoon to pick you up or that sports drink you have at the gym. Just make this one change and you will lose a pound every other week. You don’t have to change anything else you are doing. It’s that easy!
